Canucks actually have a goldmine of talent here. Either of the Canuck goalies would fit perfectly into a backup position and as they have Demko coming up next year, they can afford to lose one. Probably Markstrom has more appeal just for his size.... although Nilsson's numbers have been better.

Poor Eddy Lack. He could hide under Luongo and be serviceable when needed. But no Lou... no Lack.

Who cares about the market for back-up's when MTL has Carey Price for sale.

Give us all your #1 draft picks until eternity and a bag of pucks and he's yours !

BeatleJohn, are the Canucks back to having 3 of the top 2 goalies in hockey again?

Not sure you got the facts straight on Canucks but Demko and Dipietro are not playing in the NHL yet....

Saros won't be traded, Ek. He wasn't sent down because the Preds are unhappy with him. He was sent down because he was struggling a bit in his starts and he needs to play on a regular basis in order to get his game back. He's only 22, which is young for goaltenders, after all.

I'll call the league office and let all of you know what I find out. More to come... Stay tuned...

I just called the league office. Apparently a team in the West is talking trade with a team in the East but the Habs are holding everything up. Galchenyuk could be involved. The team in the West is willing to trade a player who was once an All star defenseman. The team in the East would like to shore up its backup goaltending by the 1/3rd mark of the season. I'm told that a trade could happen within the next 24 to 48 hours. More to come...Stay tuned...

Update.. A GM in the West just called to ask me if I've heard anything... I told him the Habs are holding everything up right now. He told me that Bergy might be fired very soon. If the Habs lose to the Leafs tonight, Galchenyuk will definitely be traded to a team in the West for a former All star defenseman. The GM also tells me that he's hearing rumblings that the Calgary Flames might be moving to Houston for next season and be renamed the Houston Samsquanches. More to come... Stay tuned...

Wasn't he once so "Priceless" in Montreal?
With his current real price tag, you may have to settle in exchange for only the "bag of pucks", in order for another team to pick up over the remainder of his loooong term contract, his full cap hit "Price".

I wonder what the criteria is when they choose these Winter Classics. I know it's an OG6 battle, but I feel like they need to spread the wealth a little.

Maybe pick a rematch of the previous year's ECF/WCF or one of the playoff match-ups.

Pick some younger up-and-coming teams or teams with storylines. Maybe do WPG vs. TOR, DAL vs. TAM... spread it out.

Stammer vs. Bishop? Laine vs. Matthews? Karlsson vs. Subban?

Yeah, but it's shooting themselves in the foot. They need to build other markets. At least pair one of the OG6 with a different team.

You want to do CHI? Fine. Have them play Dallas, Tampa, Anaheim, etc...

i prefer Chi not to be in it at all. i just get why they do. Those 3 markets suck and wouldn't attract the hungover casual fan.

They have to run these as holiday season double headers... Captive audience sitting around doing nothing drawn in by the big market attraction leaving the tube on and catching the smaller market yet more exciting later game.

I am sorry that you misread me.... we are talking about serviceable backups. Not starters. If the Canucks are out of it by TDL..... could easily get a third for a non-assett and fill the spot with a minor league goalie on the verge of making the league next year.

Stupid Leaf-tard.

No I simply mean that at the TDL, Markstrom or Nillson could easily be traded for a mid range draft pick at least... maybe a 2nd in a bidding war.

Demko or Dipietro would be brought up .... but probably Bachman if they are playing like a bubble team on the way down. I mean, why throw D or D to the wolves.
